Arguments for America’s Christian origins

Despite the denial of the modern secularist, this nation [the USA] began as a Christian nation. We remember the words of the Mayflower Compact, written by the first settlers of Plymouth as they sat in the captain’s quarters on their ship before setting foot on these shores. That famous document, also known as the “birth certificate of America,” affirmed that they set out in this great undertaking “for the glory of God, and the advancement of the Christian faith.” That is why those settlers came. What they wrote in 1620 was a political covenant that directly mirrored the spiritual covenant they had written in 1606…

When [George] Washington was inaugurated, which occurred in 1789 in New York City, he got down on his knees and kissed the Bible. Then he led the entire Senate and House of Representatives to an Episcopal church for a two-hour worship service. Why, that is enough to give the ACLU [American Civil Liberties Union] collective apoplexy!
