Let us pray.
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy holy name.
Thy kingdom of grace and glory come.
Thy will be done in our lives as it is in heaven.
Give us today our spiritual, physical, mental, and social needs.
Enable us to forgive others even as You so willingly forgive us.
Lead us away from the evil one, but deliver us from Satan’s plans to destroy us for we desire eternal life.
In the worthy and precious name of Jesus we pray, amen.
My two cents
I heard this on the radio driving home from work, and I thought it would be good to put in written form. I hadn’t thought much of paraphrasing the Lord’s Prayer, but I like the touch that was put on it by Pastor Phillips. Perhaps his words weren’t so much of a paraphrase as an embellishment; perhaps it sat somewhere in between Eugene H. Peterson’s The Message and The Amplified Bible.
Back to Pastor Phillips, I saw the video of him praying this prayer (along with the King James wording). I liked his combination of delivery, accent and intonation. That you can see here.
