Jesus did not call us to sugarcoat sin

Too often, when we explain that Jesus did not condemn sinners, we glance over the truth that He did call them to turn from their sin. When Jesus encountered those in sexual sin, His message was not, “Well, please be careful!” but rather, “Sin no more!”

My two cents

This quote was said in the context of an article about the Pill and abortion. I guess it reflects the humanism enmeshed in our society when the conjugal act is spoken of in physical safety terms first, and then moral terms afterwards, if at all.

I think certain people want to turn Jesus into a spineless buttercup, especially when it suits their political ends. I think we need to overturn that. Too many people confuse atonement with endorsement.
