Higher education and creationism in parallel

The proportion of college graduates who are creationists is exactly the same as for the general public. That’s right: 46 percent of Americans with sixteen long years of education under their belt believe the story of Adam and Eve is…true…

In Tennessee, home of the Scopes trial, a new law actually makes teaching creationism legal.

My two cents

That percentage isn’t really high enough, but it’s great to know that religion precedes and transcends class and education. Sometimes I had this view of people assuming that creationists are uneducated folk and that universities are full of atheists and/or liberals.

I’m glad that view is off-base.

I’m glad that the aspirations of humanistic educators have hit a wall.

I’m glad that that people can see a difference between academic knowledge and intelligence.
