The modern dating system does not train young people to form a relationship. It trains them to form a series of relationships, and further trains them to harden themselves to the break-up of all but the current one. At the very least, this system is as much a preparation for divorce as it is for marriage.

Yes, I agree. It’s interesting the hold that dating has on modern society. If you asked the man in the street of the dating system’s origins, I bet he couldn’t tell you. A few years back, I wouldn’t have known either. I remember hearing the dating system being described as hugging, kissing, then dumping. If you’re taught that process, is it any wonder that you’ll carry that same attitude into marriage when things go bad?
